    Motor shaft

The set screw on the pinion gear has routed out a groove on the motor shaft and has made multiple indentions on the shaft, also. I think I may have over tightened the screw. Is there any way to fix this like replacing the shaft? I think it will continue to route out a groove until it is all of the way around. I am not going to tighten the screw as much, and hope for the best until I get it figures out. Thanks in advance.

you can buy a rebuild kit, but they are as expensive as a new motor.

It did that either because you didn't have the set screw tight enough or, more likely, you tightened it against the round part of the shaft instead of on the flat. Your allen wrench would probably break or round off before you could get that set screw too tight.

As long as the groove in teh shaft isn't too deep you should be fine, just make sure the set screw is tightened down on the flat part of the shaft and is good and tight....a little blue loctite is always a good idea as well.
