can it be upgraded?

Did anybody ever try an upgrade with these or are the gears only plastic? Because I have one still running but never did nothing more than motor change.

Upgrade the Street Sport or the Spirit? Either could be upgraded, but the Street Sport is probably the more upgradable of the two.

Yeah I never hear anything or seen one upgraded so I just wanted to know. I would like to try something with mine, but I wouldn't know what gears to purchase, because I know those gear got to be plastic inside and would strip with a brushless system.

Had an Hobbywing 35amp ESC & 3570kv brushless motor laying around, so I threw it in the Spirit and its rolling pretty good.

After I installed the hobbywing 35amp esc & 3570kv motor I got 44mph out of the Spirit, and thats with a bad front tire sliced.

Hey here's a good one: Spirit of Traxxas haha. i've seen a couple of these at a lhs near me brand new unopened in a case for 189 each i think they sell for.

I always wanted to do something different to it, but finally had a few extra parts laying around to mess with, and I did it and it works pretty good, and doesn't get hot either.

I think I paid $99 for mine back in early 2000's. Now I can't find one for sell. I wasn't really looking for one until I ripped a piece of the tire the other day, and started looking for another front tire.
