retrieval Boat help

I have this boat sitting around. It is just a cheap walmart boat. the range isn't very far so I need to upgrade it. I know I need a receiver and esc anything else? I want to try the stock motor first. I do have a titan 775 if needed. It has a 19.2v battery stock. I do have 2 8.4v 3000mah and 2 9.6v 5000mah batteries to work with also. I want to reuse as much as possible.

How long & wide it is?

I use my Titan 775 & 6518 receiver. A lot of rescues on this rig.

I have been swimming for the spartan 3 times

28" long and 8" wide.
I also have a mamba monster pro v3. I know its not technically waterproof. I cant find the minimum voltage for it though. maybe my 2 8.4 or my 2 9.6 can power it.

The size of the boat is very good, it will handle the load once you do the pushing, don't put a brushless motor!, it will be too hard to get the boat on the exact spot, once your point of view is far.
Esc - I used the EVX-2 which is compatible on the Titan 775
Why do you need another radio? You can use your Traxxas radio, the only thing you need is a receiver.

well I'm not to big on binding them. But I just bought a summit and just found out that it stores up to 30 models. I didnt know I didnt have to bind them everytime.


about how fast does your boat go with the titan?

Once you bind, you should save it and then just power it off & on then your ready to use it with the other one. No need to rebind it always. I don't measure the speed on the Titan, my main thing is you can easily engage on the spartan because you can control it easily.

Main thing with retrieval's is you want them to be agile at low speed. Build yourself a PVC system like the other boat posted on here, change out radio and maybe the servo, and your in business. Also, you want a lot of weight in the front on retrievals.

question the remote is backwards. normal throttle is reverse and reverse is foward. can I just switch the 2 wires on the titan 550 motor? so I dont always have to reprogram the remote? I have the evx-2 esc

Just switch the two wires everything will work normally.

When my boat stops out in the water, I use A fishing pole with A treble hook A few lead weights and A float. I throw it past it and usually hook it on the outrigger/prop and pull it in slowly. It's worked for me every time for 20 years now.

Mark Ball, I have used a fishing pole set up such as you have but on occasion a boat that needs rescuing is beyond a rod and reel and then a rescue boat is needed.... And then you still get to drive and show off some retrevial skills

This is what I use for that purpose...... Even has enough power to retrive some of my friends 1/5 scale gas boats.....

Well if you play on the water like this far, you really need a rescue rig.

It would be a tough time to use a Fishing pole.

That place looks to be sheltered from the wind to provide some sweet boating.

20-30mph wind no problem, this is my favourite place, 1 more month then I will see the clear water.

On the RC boat pond where I go, the best times are before 10-11am and after 4-5 pm as the wind blows off shore pretty good between thoes times which keeps our speeds down going east to west (into the wind) the bow get's real light in a Spartan into the wind at 50mph.

I would put the titan 775 motor in it. A evx-2 esc. And a tqi receiver. Make sure you get the protective box for the tqi system.
