    Angry Mamba Monster 2 Fire

    Hi everyone,

I was running my e-revo in the snow today and the ESC started smoking about 15 minutes into it. I immediately stopped and took the body off. Under further inspection it seem that all 3 capacitors have vented. There was a funky small and a strange orange goo coming out of one of the capacitors... I am going to look into Castle's warranty and see if they'll cover it. Had this happened to anyone else?

Castle should replace it but who knows how long you will have to wait. Just an thought, might be a good idea to get a shroud just to be safe.

They might have caught up with the demand of the MM2. I know a few people here sent in MMM and got MM2 replacements and they have got them now, also one guy had the same thing happen and he got his replacement too so it might be quick.

Yes because there is still a chance it will get inside aka the OP's case.

I sent my MMM2 in to Castle...They will have to see if it's a warranty issue before sending a new one. I am going to get a outerwears shroud. Like Novarider said it seems silly but i guess it's better than having this happen again.

Capacitors venting is a sign of whats called ripple current and is not caused by water.

I just got my MM2 back from Castle. They sent me a brand new one for free. I am installing it now, just have to solder the connectors on ( castle sent back the ones that were on the old unit). The lipos are Traxxas 11.1 3s. Those are the batts that Castle recomends in the manual. I'll probably have it going by tomorrow.
