Traxxas Link help 2.4 radio wont link

Recently I had to replace my reciver because I broke it.I brought it to my LHS and they said that I needed a new one so they brought me the 5 channel traxxas link (It did have TQI on it but I have a TQ) and said it would work so I replaced it and it wouldnt work when I held the set button it would blink red.So then I pluged in a fulley charged battery and held the link button on, and then pressed my esc button. The esc was green but the reciver was flashing red as my controller was. Please help me havent driven it for a week!

Make sure your tx is compatible with the new rx.
The RX with telemetry wont work with the TQ.
