    Favorite Transmitter/Receiver Upgrade?

After my son about took out my eye yesterday do to the stock radios antennae being 3 feet long and the fact that 8 Duracells at a time are killing me, we are ready to upgrade to a newer system. I have done a ton of research on these but it seems the possibilities are endless. I would really like to stay with a traxxas system but I am open to any suggestions traxxas, fly sky etc. Even with the traxxas system I am unsure as to which may be better, the TQ or the TQi..on a side note I am not interested in the one with the apple dock.

Thought I would come here and see what others are running to help me get the best for my buck.

I started with a 27mhz long atenna transmitter, didnt last too long.. then tried a Flysky GT3-C and well.. it stopped working after being used a total of about 20 mins.
Looked at a few Spektrum set ups and didnt like that a few were having issues with range.
Any ways, I took the Flysky back and went for the newest Traxxas TQi 2.4ghz transmitter and 5 channel receiver. Night and day!

If I were you, I would go for the 2 channel TQi with receiver.

If $$ is no object even go the 4 channel.

    I haven't looked back.

I believe A Main Hobbies have the 2 channel TQi with receiver for under $100.

The TQi is nice and light and works great. But it can be very difficult to change settings with the blinking light method. You could look at an entry level airtronics or futaba in the $100 price range. Very nice systems and very high quality. If not one of those, the TQi is hard to beat for the money.
