It burns your fingers really bad

Just messing with ya man, get a temp gun. Its the only sure fire way. Laser guns are cheap at any auto type supplier.

Actually, you are not wrong lol. While yes, a temp gun is the best way to get acurrate readings, if you can't keep your finger on a motor for more than 3 secs or so without burning your finger then your way to hot. Let the powerplant cool down at that point. On my 1/8 setup I can keep my finger on the motor all day if I wanted to so I don't even have to pull the temp gun out of my bag.

I have a temp gun, but usually just use the finger test after a run. Now don't try to be a hero and keep your finger one there just to trick yourself into thinking your motor isn't hot. 3+ seconds comfortably is a good rule.

Fingers have notoriously bad calibration. Use an IR temp gun.
I know they're having their break there by your brake drums. No, you're not invited.

I calibrated my finger with my temp gun +/- 5 degrees. Your fingers may vary.

It helps for the finger trick if you have someone else's fingerprints on

1st degree burns start at 150 degrees... so its going to feel hot basically at any temp over 110... you need a temp gun as previously stated.
