Virtually any grease will work. The thicker and heavier a grease is the more it will make the diff act like an limited slip diff and the longer it will last before it will need re packing.

That's the tube from Harbor Freight, isn't it? I think that's lithium grease. You're supposed to use silicone grease inside the diff.

I've used every kind of grease I can think of and the only difference I can tell is how tight it makes the diff and how long it lasts. I honestly dont think it matters if it is silicone or lithium or some other base materiel.

I just do it every few months out of habit. You could go longer I guess.

Depends how much you dirve the truck. When I was driving my Rusty on a daily basis I would re pack the diff every 3 or 4 weeks and that was stretching it.

I think you're referring to sealed diffs. They usually take silicone fluid instead of grease. The problem with the stock Traxxas diff is that it's not sealed and silicone diff fluid will end up inside your trans, running out of the out drive bearings, or in extreme cases out of the hole in the bottom of the trans.

That leaking diff lube will also cause a lot of drag in the gearbox, which will add heat to your motor/esc, lower run times, and decrease performance...

On the bright side, it will increase drag brake.

I put lithium grease in the biggest gear that's in the transmission. Is that okay?
