    Bad ESC?

    Hello,

I've noticed that once things warm up from driving (only common variable) that sometimes the throttle will not work immediately after a stop. It will also on occasion have no throttle nor servo response, then come back to life. Seeing as how I've learned of so many plagues within the 1/16 line, I don't know if this is indicative of bad ESC, servo or RX/TX. Any insight?

Well it might be your Servo Plug it out, then mess with it and see if the behavior is different and if it is then its your esc if not then its your servo!

I can't make it replicate as it is intermittent.

Say after a small jump that l let go of the throttle during, after landing it won't immediately take off again after applying throttle. That might be a VXL thing as I seem to remember some 1/10 I had do the same thing years ago. After a while I'll stop and attempt to go again just on flat ground, I get no action on the throttle or servo like I'm out of range. A few seconds later the steering will work; shortly thereafter, I'll get throttle. I've only noticed it happened after a bit of runtime, not immediately.

it sounds like what mine does. Does it make a whining sound when you are pulling the throttle? Mine I just release the throttle and pull again and it goes. I don't think steering goes out though.

I am leaning towards servo issues... especially if it is the stock servo.
Whatever it is I just said... I could be wrong.

Only whining I get is the slipper.

I mean when its not moving and you are pulling the throttle. Mine makes a high pitched electrical whine.

OK. I saw in the past you recommend the Bluebird/TGY 390DMH. Is that still the case?

I didn't know a servo could impact that much.

That or the Hitec 5085, which is what I went with due to not being able to find the BB, and I love it about 40 bucks on tower. Its all metal and a drop in pretty much

    HS-5085MG Mighty Micro?
I might have that on an old Losi 1/24 crawler that I can rob as it is literally collecting dust.
    Is it a direct fit?

yep thats the one and yes but the horn may not be the one you need I forget which one I used then I had to drill the hole out a hair bigger for the screw and some grind the tabs off so it sits more flush...

I had horn issues I think on the crawler, too.
But the 390DMH is a direct fit?

Called Traxxas and got an RMA for them to check it. My frustration level was exceeded after other issues presented themselves, so I'll leave this particular gremlin to them.
