Need lipo help , for my old emaxx 3906

So, I need to breathe some life back into this old dog, and I want to run lipo, what lipos do I need to make it happen? 2 x 2s lipos? just plug em in and go? , or can I run a single big one somehow? I currently run 2 x 7 cell nimh packs. thanks all

Depends, do you still have the stock electronics? You can't run lipo in the old orange evx but the new evx2 (blue ones) you can run 4s max 2 2s in parallel or a 4s lipo but you would have to change the wiring to the esc

Actually you can run lipos in the old orange EVX. I have used for some time now without any issues.

Two 2s lipo's connected as you would the two nimh packs. Also a low voltage alarm, either for the one on the bec side, or an alarm on each lipo pack.
You'll also need a lipo charger.
I'm not too sure if you can put a single 4s lipo on the orange evx with a jumper on the other side.
Problems. The manual's good starting point. Simple

Definitely get yourself a decent LiPo charger ($80-120). And a cell checker ($5-10).

Chargers: Traxxas EZ Peak Plus or Onyx 235/245. All are very good.

Perfect, I already have the onyx, so I'll order some high capacity 2 s lipos, and alarms/checkers and hope for the best! cheers

depending on how old the motors are, also how long you been running 7cell.
I'd say it could be time for new motors very soon anyway.

motors are fresh, i have 7 or 8 sets of batts only one set is 7 cell so, not that much run time on 7 cell.

    so I'm looking at 2s 40-80c 5800mah or 2s2p 5600 mah 50-100 c . what is the better of the two?

i only use 4000mah 30C now, they fit in the tray nice and tight with the stock hold downs. But thats with a dewalt.
Out of the two you are looking at, go with the least expensive. There both high spec'd batteries, (if they are a reliable make) and you won't notice any difference between the two.

You can't go overkill with batteries, but you can go under powered which is bad.

Just keep an eye on both motor and esc temps. Lipo's have a lot more power, I have burned up a few titans and an esc...

so finally got lipos in and charged with low voltage alarms, and they wont work>? I hit the trottle just a smidge and it will sort of go, but pull the throttle anymore and nothing, put nimh back in and normal, what gives?
