    what engine parts are interchangeable?

    Thinking about upgrading the Tmaxx from the 2.5 to 3.3. So it looks like the interchangeable parts are:
    -Carb
    -clutch assembly
    -flywheel
    -carb pinch bolt
    -front/rear main bearings
    -air filter
    -backplate???

    i was thinking if i could get the other parts cheap enough then i could build her from scratch then add the stuff above. for example TowerHobbies wants $29 for a simple 3.3 block and ebay i can for $12. anything else to add?

    Not sure about the backplate. The others sound right. Look at the exploded views of both and compare/contrast. The most expensive parts are the sleeve and piston and I would recommend a new rod. You'll also need a cooling head. Adding it all up it may be better to buy a new complete 3.3 off eBay.

    You can pick up a new 3.3 for $105.00 off of Ebay from one of the chop shops...
    Piston and sleeve = $40.00
    Conrod = $30.00
    Bearings = $25.00
    Cooling head = $30.00

    Your already out of pocket more than if you bought the engine new.

    The crank is also interchangeable. If your looking for a serious 3.3 send me a message. I can hook you up for reasonably cheap.

    They fit but there are differences in them. I would not put a 2.5 crank into a 3.3... But the opposite has been done and it seems to be good on the 2.5 engines.

    The bore size is smaller for the 2.5 that's it. It wouldn't be a powerhouse but is interchangeable that's all
