Unhappy Problems with new TQi 2.4 GHz 2 Channel Transmitter

I bought a new one on ebay that came with a new 5 chan receiver to upgrade my old 2wd pede. I installed the receiver and got it to bind with my old TQ 2.4G transmitter that came with my 4WD pede. The old transmitter is also bound with the old receiver in the 4wd and both trucks now work fine off it with Traxxas Link working to recognize each.
When I got to setup the new trans, I get a blinking green light on the ESC indicating throttle trim not set right. I set that, then reprogrammed the ESC and when they light goes red once to pull trigger forward then blinks twice to pull reverse, that's where things get stuck as the green esc light never comes back on. The same thing happens when I try to set up the new transmitter with both trucks.
Seems like the trigger in the new trans may be defective or ???

Try doing this with nothing else plugged into the receiver.
Whatever it is I just said... I could be wrong.

The only thing plugged into the receiver was the ESC and steering servo. Don't they have to be plugged in when you set up the transmitter?

The servo does not when you are setting up the ESC.
There might be some interference causing this issue... I have experienced this twice before. The first time was a faulty servo causing a minute otherwise unnoticeable glitch. The second time was the ABS function of my GT3B radio.

Well, I'll give it a shot without the servo plugged in from scratch before I all Traxxas Supt. It did the same thing on two different trucks though.

I'm in business now. Apparently, sometimes when you get a new transmitter there is a special procedure that needs to be done that Traxxas doesn't publish. They don't publish it because if you do it wrong, the result can be irreparable damage to the transmitter. They had me do a bunch of button pushing, and then went through rebinding and ESC calibration and the new transmitter is now working fine with my new receiver and also the one in my other truck.
I don't think I'll ever buy anything RC that isn't Traxxas again. I did once and it was a bad experience. Traxxas always makes it right.
