    what I found works best for shaping steel in a tungsten carbide bite followed with a grinding stone... I am no pro but i would try to make both sides the same to try and make it as balanced as you can other then that not bad for a go at it.

    So do the same to the other side and yeah it some tough steel i did it with a small file

    You've done a light porting on the crank it should be OK but I'm sure you realize that crank is pretty hard metal.... Here's the porting thread I put together.
