    Parts Compatibility...

Just reorganized my spare parts... seems I have a few cups (5681) and locker output shafts (5678) but no gears to put in them. I found an inner diff gear set (5382X) but it has parts that are not needed like the I-bar, pin, and the two output shafts... I have lots of those from previous purchases of this set. So I went to eBay to see if anyone had just the little gears for sale... possibly even an upgraded version and ran across this:

This kit seems to have 4 of the little gears compared to two in 5382X:

But does anyone know if they are the same size??
Whatever it is I just said... I could be wrong.

    Far from it...

Looking closer at the top pick, the bottom, two gears might be different on the back side even if they are the same size.

6882 same spiders and outputs except
The outputs are machined down in size at the outer connecters.

It seems I am only chewing up spiders when I blow a diff... it would be nice to be able to buy just those.

Jimmy did a little fast digging and the Stamede, X0-1, and Slash 4x4 all have the same part # 6882X

Ran down and checked my Pedes output shaft next to a Summit shaft and there seems to be some difference in them in that the Summits is a little bit wider where it inters the case. Other than that they all look to be the same.
Only Difference between part no. 6882 and part no. 6882X is that 6882X has the carrier support.
Which you where probably already aware of.
I have no idea where or for what the "C" clips would be used for that are in the kit you found on E-bay, unless that is something new that has been added.

Fresh off of Ebay : GPM Hardened steel diff gears. They are designed for the erevo but does fit into the summit differential as well.

    http://www.ebay.com/itm/160973128587...=p5197.c0.m619

they are very hard to come by (I have been searching the bay for 5 months before these popped up) buy them fast before I am tempted to buy another set.

EDIT : not so hard to come by, The Toyz are selling them now.

Why are you blowing so many spider gears?

And are you sure about those revo gears fitting in lockable diffs? the output shafts might be different on a Revo than a Summit.

under stress the plastic diff cups will stretch/ deform and the diff gears will mis-align just a lil and CRUNCH.

Jimmie ya say you need spider gears? I have a couple of extra sets. Will send you a set if you want.
When I bought the Tekin unit bought 4 differential rebuild kits just in case, but sense I went with the Dewalt doubt they will be needed. My slipper is a little on the lose side due to my trucks weight, just to be safe.

You will need them at some point.
The dewalt can destroy diffs quite well if given the opportunity

I think the top two do, but from what I see in the pic the bottom two do not. But this has not been confirmed either way.

I kinda figured the two that drive the axles are different... they really have to be to engage the shaft.

Its not drilling you would be concerned with, the ones with the larger holes are the ones that DO NOT fit. If you drilled... all 4 would not fit. However, if you could built up the insides of the big holed gears with JB. maybe that would work.. Just kidding. LoL

I think were out of luck on the 241 gears.

A little off topic but not really.....does anyone make an aluminum diff cup for the Summit? I'm looking at rebuilding my first set and would like to replace them while torn apart.

I think Hot Racing also makes an aluminium diff cup for Summit? Actually that might be E-Revo? Are they the same?
