    Raptor Desert Truck Build

Hey guys, I"ve been following this forum for a while now, gathering a wealth of information. So for my first post, i thought i would introduce my Slash.

    The look I was after:

The look i ended up with:

RPM Frt and Rear bumpers and light canisters. (stock lower skid plate makes a good spare tire carrier)

TRX castor blocks, axle carriers and bellcranks. RPM lower arms, skid plates and shock towers. STRC hinge pins. Stock Ultra shocks with aluminum caps and TiNi shafts. (40W Frt and 50W Rear, still fine tuning) And finally a JConcepts overtray with 2 cooling fans to keep everything clean.
I'm still running the stock Titan motor for now, i wanted to build the truck up for durability.
Tell me what you think or if you have any suggestions.

We're not worthy. Now that is how you do it!

I too still have the stock Titan but that is where our similarities end. My truck on the other hand has a cracked front rpm bumper, a torn rear shock tower (fixed with a drill hole and nut and bolt) and a recently seized up Titan motor....not too mention the body is tore up and the chassis is caked in a mixture of mud and wd40...ahhh it's wonderful.

Great job on your rig its really sweet.

Very nice truck,I also cut a spot for my vxl-3 fan to stick out,but I built A small tent like top for it an used a very fine screen around it to keep out dirt, many say outer wear a,k,a pantyhose work well.
Don't for get, your esc fan is actually pushing hot air in.I really like your front fan,I have one off a heat sink,I think ill buy another, and mount one over the battery also.
I have three trucks, two still have stock chassis. This one doesn't need an over tray.
    [IMG][/IMG]
This was before I made the fan hole for the esc, and,if you don't mind me using your idea?two front mounted in the front, and one over the battery.
    [IMG][/IMG]
This one will soon have lcg chassis also, first I want to see how my hot racing steel sealed diff works.
    [IMG][/IMG]
Again sweet truck, hope it gives you hours and hours of fun.

PS. sand calls for a lot of maintenance, but from the look of your build,I think you'll have that covered.

Actually,I have 3 cooling fans in the overtray. I have one inside pointed at the ESC that I Velcro'd in place so I could remove it whenever I want.

P.S. Thanks for the comments. As far as using any of my ideas.... This is what it's all about, getting great ideas from great people. Havin fun.

    Excellent idea,Beautiful build.
I like the way you did your esc fan far better than mine.
    Clean and professionally done.
May I ask,are you having any issues powering all three fans with the one rx in put?
Or are you going right from the vxl-3? assuming that's what your running.

I've only been running the 2 fans right now with no issues, I only got the brain fart for the 3rd fan recently and I haven't wired it up yet, and yes I'm running them from one rx input. (the fans are quite small 25mm X 25mm) I will keep you updated.
    Cheers.

So, I caved in and went to my LHS and picked up a set of PL Powerstrokes. Put 50W in the frt. and 40W in the rear. Hopefully the weather will dry out so I can see how she handles and tweak anything that needs tweaking.

    Awesome build!
I am currently working on the same thing. I have an everything-but-stock Traxxas Raptor with an Integy roll-cage that I am using for the build. The only stock parts left on it, for now, are the gears and main chassis plate! lol

I have a question. What did you use for the "Built Ford Tough" emblems? Are they decals or did you print them and adhere them yourself?
