New Lipo Batteries Means New Charger Settings

I just purchased TWO Traxxas 3s 1400 mah lipo packs. I have the traxxas EX Peak Plus charger so I can charge many batteries. What settings should I have the charger set for my Lipo packs? I would like to know the charge rate (amps and volts) as well as the discharge rate (amps and volts). Thanks a lot!!!

Here is the manual on the charger... just in case yours did not come with one:
    http://traxxas.com/sites/default/fil...ual-120323.pdf

    Voltages are usually automatically selected.

Here is how to determine charge amperage:
To calculate the charge rate of your pack
    mAh x charge C rate / 1000 = charge amps
    For example:
    A 2200mah 20-40C pack that states a 2C charge rate.
    2,200 x 2 / 1000 = 4.4
This battery pack can be charged at 4.4 amps.
    - Please note that if no charge C rate is stated, 1C is standard.

Discharging can be done at whatever the charger can handle. Just use the storage option.
Whatever it is I just said... I could be wrong.

The charge voltage is not auto detected, you will need to set it for 3s, 11.1v. For the amperage, you can charge your pack at 2c, which would be 2.8A. To get maximum life and number of cycles from your pack though, charge it at 1c which is 1.4A.

There's no need to discharge a LiPo (unless you want to dispose of it) except for getting it down to storage voltage. For that, no matter if the pack is fully charged or discharged, use the chargers storage mode set to 3s. For those packs you can set it to 1.4A for a 1c charge/discharge, or 2A which is the max on that charger.

Good to know that charge voltage is not auto detected on this charger... they are on mine.

+1 all this ^^^ Charging LiPos is a piece of cake once you've done it a few times...enjoy!
Make it idiot-proof and along comes a better idiot
