    Motor Sizes?

Ok. I got a brushless motor on a trade the other day and its a 2370kv. It's the same diameter at the velineon motor but its about a inch longer. What will happen If I put that motor in my slash. I know there will be more torque but what else. Should I not put it in there and go with a higher KV motor?

Do you know what brand of motor it is? Is it a two or four pole motor? The more information you give, the better answer you will receive.

No name off brand. It's a GV motor.

It wasn't in a rig. It was loose. And it spins freely and smooth.

It has a 5mm shaft. You are going to need a different pinion to fit the larger shaft. If and when you do run it, please report to us how you like it.

I have a few summits and a ton of pinion gears. What are the advantages and disadvantages to the smaller kv motor.

A plus for lower kv motor is, u can run higher cell batteries and if geared correctly it will fly and temps won't be as high as a higher kv motor. Fun for bashing!

Oh and disadvantage is it may not perform that great on 2s. 3s to 4s would be good tho

As always keep an eye on temps and find the best combo of gearing/ battery size!

It should be good on 3S, but watch your ESC temps. The VXL-3S is made more to run 540 size motors.

That is a 2-pole motor, right? The VXL-3S doesn't like 4-pole motors as much.

If you end up changing ESC's, the castle mamba max pro is a good option. There's a losi-branded identical version that's cheaper too (LOSB9504) on eBay.

I have that same motor. It is a 2 pole. Works great on 4s not so good on 2s. It came off my XTM Rail. Have it connected to a 120a ESC

Did you try it with the stock slash esc? Are you running it in your slash. If so can I see some pics. I would like to see how you mounted your esc.

I tried it in the slash but decided to put it back in the rail. I never tried it with the stock ESC. The bullet connectors are different sizes. As far as mounting it bolts right in. Had to relocate the reciver to the front of the truck. Would also recommend upgraded Drive shafts if your gonna if your gonna run anything bigger than 2s. The motor is ok. Cogs alot. But ripps when you get it to speed. Also would recommend a aluminum heat sink and fan.
