New to the e revo club

Hey guys, i know nothing about the e revo, i just bought one today from this guy for 400 bucks he took the motor out and had it in his losi but gave it all to me. I soldered new traxxas plugs on it to. Im using 3s batteries to is that fine?

Okay i know nothing about this either but it needs a new spur gear and a pinion. What is a good gear set up to use?

You will probably end up around 21/54 but 18 is a good starting point
    65t spur is stock
On 6s it will heat up faster then 4s and much harder on the diffs and axles. Only way to tell is drive the way you do and check your temps until you know how hot it runs.
I would start with 4s and get used to the power

yes it is the supplied gearing.......yes "can" get hot both the ESC & the motor....the Joes are a heavy tire, would stick around the 18/54 mark still a lost of speed.....

A temp gun is kind of a must have.....

Hot motor + cool esc = under geared.
Cool motor + hot esc = over geared
    Everything warm just right..

Motor ~ 180/190*F (82/88*C) maximum, ideally 140/160*F (60/71*C), temps can be 10*F higher inside the motor
ESC ~ pretty much same temps / Fan comes on @ 150*F (65*C)
    Lipo's ~ 140*F (60*C) max, ideally 100/120*F (38/49*C).........

That depends on your driving style and terrain but you should be fine
Do you have a castle link? You can mellow out the hit and make it more livable
Pu a matching 2s then you can run 5 cell!

that works need a min of 120 amps

    5000 times 25 = 125,000 divide 1000 = 125 amps......
    cell count remains the same..

    mAh x C = ???,??? '/, 1000 = amps

    8000 x 50 = 400,000 divide 1000 = 400 amps

    the more amps the better.........
check out a few of the build threads, you can pull alot of info....

that is only accurate when the factory rating is accurate which is rarely the case most are overrated

My buddy said hed trade me 2 2s 5000mah 20c-50c for 2 of my onyx should i do that
i wouldn't 20c battery is much weaker than yours

Hey does the batteries have to match to?
they have to match by mah and C rating i run spc 5400 50c .i have 4 2s and 2 3s and then i can run 5s with one 2s and one 3s

That is true to a point. Some not all Battery brands are over rated (kind of). Not pointing any fingers as to who is or is not "over rated".
What some are doing is basing their C rating off Max Burst, not Continuous discharge... It is misleading but it is still true, to a point........(KIND OF). Buy good named batts & you should never have a prob.........

Still putting together my E-revo roller but will be starting with 18/62 with 2/2S and going from there.

MM2/2200kV combo. I checked rear diff cup and almost no oil so filled with 100k. rebuilt shocks with no3 VDK and 70W. Talons on 1/2 offset Desperados with HPP hubs.

    50togo, 20 plus posts/day. You're a busy boy.
