    What diff oil?

My shims should be here in a few days for my merv and digger, should I open the diffs to see if the oil is good since I will have them out anyway? what weight oil should I put in? I think stock is 30k but I see others run different in front and back?

also should there be oil or grease put on the external gears, when I put the front end parts in the digger I didn't put anything on the ring and pinion gears and now I'm thinking maybe I should have?

    Thanks

I read that lot of people use 50k in both or 50k in front and 30k in rear, which I'm using right now. Oh well, I'm using 60k in front becouse when I bought online the 50k was out of stock, and 30k in rear diff
I like how the merv runs with that configuration.

If you put grease put only a dab. I use sullivan's dry ice goes on wet and when it dries leaves a teflon coating behind.
I also put a bead of silicone rtv around the bulkhead to keep debris out

yep, and I also RTV the top with a light oil film on the chassis so it can be removed without sticking to the chassis side -
just don't over goop it !
There are lots of ways to do that. Most are wrong.
