The correct way to discharge a lipo is to set the amp rate at half the mah rating. Is this correct? thanks. Or is it ok to discharge at a higher rate?

Its OK from what I know to discharge at 1c the same mah as stated on your lipo. Stop when the lipo gets to 3.85v per cell. If your storing it. Lipos shouldn't go below 3.2v at all to be safe and not damage the lipo or your self.

You can discharge the LiPo at up to its constant discharge C rate... which is way more than most chargers (or dischargers) can discharge.
For instance... a 20C 2200mAh LiPo can be discharged at 44 amps.
To calculate the constant discharge rate of your pack
mAh x minimum discharge C rate / 1,000 = available amps
For example:
The same 2200mah 20-40C pack.
2,200 x 20 / 1000 = 44
This battery pack can consistently provide up to 44 amps.
Whatever it is I just said... I could be wrong.
