    Lipo balooned... What now?

I've never had it happen to me before and it's never gone below voltage... But when i went to turn on my Rusty and run my new GoPro it would turn on for 2 second then off.... Took the battery out and it's toast... Guy at the hobby store said there was a 10% chance i may be able to fix it..... Will traxxas send a new one under any kind of warranty? or will i have to go buy a new one?

    Call 1-888-TRAXXAS.

If they can't do anything for you, then yes, she's toast! I would never try to charge or use a swollen LiPo in any way. Sorry for your loss.

If your charger will charge it fully to max voltage with it being balanced then it should be good i run one of my cars with just
that battery. I haven't had any problems with mine yet will tell you if I do.

I RESPECTFULLY DISAGREE WITH E-SLAMNIT...IF YOU'RE GOING TO DO SOMETHING RECKLESS LIKE THIS, HAVE A FIRE EXTINGUISHER NEARBY AND NOTIFY NEXT OF KIN. I HAVE SEEN LIPO FIRES AND THEY ARE NOT COOL. SERIOUSLY.

I have to my friend's NiMh has gotten so hot it set his 3S on fire. They are not fun. If it is still below voltage right now then
    dispose of it.

i wouldn't attempt anything with it. If you can get it back the lipo is still damaged and it's just a matter of time when it goes.
Contact traxxas they might be able to replace or give discount on replacement.
Whats the best that can happen, spend money on a new one.
Whats the worst that can happen, Burn your house down when charging, burn your rc when running, Or just burn wherever it is and hurt somebody.
Is spending $100 worth any of the above. Or however much a pack costs.
Problems. The manual's good starting point. Simple

I was also thinking about upgrading to a 5S lipo...? anyone recommend doing it? and my 3S lipo was over a year old... Does age effect them?

Age does effect them. Nothing lasts forever...

Is your Rusty capable of 5S?
Whatever it is I just said... I could be wrong.

    The puffed LiPo?
It could fry the electronics... burst into flames... ruin the RC... burn you... burn anyone around you... catch things around it on fire...

    need I go on?
Whatever it is I just said... I could be wrong.

Velineon system is 3S max. The ESC will go into overvolt protection with anything higher than 3S.
