Yes its one of the best budget systems available Imo.
Xerun 150A 2200kv ERBE
Dewalt 14.4v Summit
sensored is a major + for crawling. very good combo for a descent price. i do have that esc with a 1800kv sensored motor. and no problems. it is not in my summit yet, but it is in a heavy e-maxx. so weight wise the combo handles it with ease on 4s. i wont go to full 6s yet.
im a compulsive up grader on my shelf ornaments.
i only plan to use 4s on any brushless system, one because i only have 2s batteries, two because i dont want to put 6s strain on the drive train

would i need to shim the diffs or anything to run 4s? and how much speed would 4s give me on stock gearing?
Green.. Green is nice
Shimming diffs depends on whether they are sloppy or not. I mean if the pinion gear can move in and out of the diff a fair bit yes i would shim but if you can't move that pinion gear half a millimetre i don't think its worth a shim.
But i would certainly go over the truck and check the bearings etc for slop. Seriously don't under estimate brushless Lipo power.
I may be wrong and others will correct me if i am.
Speed wise. Now as you would know the "stock" summit isn't meant to be a speed machine. I estimate i have reached about 30kph or 18 mph, stock gearing, 5000mah 8.4v 7cell Nimh. So i would look over that speed, But not too much over until you change gearing.
Again i could be wrong as i don't have a brushless system but from reading a few brushless threads i don't think you get much more speed out of it on stock gearing.

If the summit can go through; its not deep enough
okay thanks if i do get it i will buy some more pinion gears

The stock Summit runs off from 4S...
Whatever it is I just said... I could be wrong.
jimmie what are you trying to say? haha
Green.. Green is nice
ahh i see what your saying but being brushless wont harm it? what speeds do you think ill get, aiming for about 30 mile or even a little bit more
Green.. Green is nice
From what I understand, you can get 30ish with the stock ESC and a DeWALT geared accordingly.
Brushless will harm it... the power is more sudden. Either ESC settings or your finger is going to have to compensate... all the shimming and beefing in the world will not stop breakage.
Whatever it is I just said... I could be wrong.
okay well i ordered a dewalt from KD forever ago and it still hasnt come, so dad just bought me a 775 so i could run my summit, so your saying that in reality you wont be able to use all the power of a brushless system without breaking things?
Green.. Green is nice
Some have... most have not.
Brushless can be used... but it must be used with caution and with "captain idiot" bound and gagged in the closet.
lol
The "captain idiot" I am referring to is a term used by another member for times when he should know better, but does it anyway...
Whatever it is I just said... I could be wrong.
haha okay if my 2 dewalts come from KD ill be using those for a while anyways, but if they dont....
Green.. Green is nice
That would be me,lol.what he says is true.It is very difficult to control the seductive charm of the gobs of instantaneous power that are just a little squeeze away.i have both systems but the dewalt is the one I use most.
Sent using lipo power
Mountains cant stop me
they have tried
i think if my dewalt ever turns up ill stick with those and build a speed merv to fix my craving for power![]()

I'm not going to say that your crazy if you need a 6 s system, but I will say i know you can get a sensored 120A 4s system for $120
PM me for help converting your Summit to brushless
i only plan to use 4s for now because i have 4 2s batteries and that gives me about an hour or so of trail and football field bashing, oh and towing my trailer with my cousins rusty on it through the bush![]()
