forward only conversion question

ive decided to do the forward only conversion on my 3.3 but before i order the parts i have a quick
question.
on paper, the robinson racing conversion set looks better, but is there any reason i shouldn't get it and
get the traxxas kit instead?
my revo is and will always be a basher.

do you have the link for the RR FOC? RR gears are hardened steel so they are much better and stronger than the stock plastic but they are also heavy.

i actually dont know how to link things, i figured the weight would only be a problem in racing, but if anyone knows any
alternatives id love to know.
the RR set is fairly expensive.

yep they are. i have the whole set (wide ratio).

With a stock 3.3. The Traxxas foc gears are strong enough. The RR is overkill for a 3.3. I got the RR steel gears, but I also got a big block motor.

Heavier gears=higher rotational mass=slower revo. The traxxas FOC is a wider stronger gear than stock.

The traxxas final drive gears are plenty strong enough.

We still have a few Nitro Revos in our stable, one with the 3.3, 2 with picco .26's (one still has reverse) and an HPI 5.9, all with the stock Traxxas gears and RR Spur and Clutch bell. I recently sold 3 other Revos, 2 with Picco .26's and 1 with a 3.3, same setup, traxxas gears and RR clutch bell and spur. 16/40 gearing.
We beat the crap out of those trucks and the gears held up fine.
I do have a complete set of RR gears, but never got around to installing them, it does make the tranny much heavier.

ok i have another question, same general area so i thought id just tack it onto this thread instead of starting a new one
will i still be able to drive my truck if i pull the opti drive and the reverse servo out and leave the reverse gears in the transmission
until i get the foc?

my reverse servo started playing up on me today.

Yeah. Just have to lock the rod in forward--you don't want that slipping out.
