    what shocks to buy

Im just wanting to see what opinions are as im torn on which shocks to buy. should i get the gtr shocks or should i get the proline shocks? I mostly run on pavement but do get off road from time to time. no racing on track for me though. PIcs for reference.

Prolines are smooth as silk and I love them. Don't have any experience with the gtr

see thats why im on the edge with the gtr shocks. They look nice though a bit more pricey then the proline. Wondering if that has to do with quality or craftmanship or what? There are almost 10 dollars more for the gtr shocks.

I have both. I like the Pro lines, but with the bigger piston bore, (13mm) the GTR's offer better dampening and are very smooth. It's just a preference of driving style & price. I've heard of guys comparing the GTR's to the Losi or Associated shocks, I have no experience with those. I think the main reason is the springs, which the Traxxas progressives are, let's say, not desired. Linear rate springs work better. I hpoe this helps,

LOL! Well, I don't want to bite the hand that feeds me! Traxxas has been very good to me, & I try to use their parts whenever possible. I've not found better customer service anywhere, which is why between my son & I, we have a total of 10 vehicles, & I just got a QR-1!

I like the gtr shocks. Haven't used the prolines though.
I get mine from eBay for about $17/set.

    Thats what Im running.
Ive tried traxxas bigbores, prolines and D8 shocks and the SC10 bigbores are the best of the 4. They have a good balance between being able to take a beating but still offering great handling.

I just want to ask why would you buy 50$ a pair shocks if you only drive on pavement and a bit of offroad.

If you want better handeling my thoughts are:

    -Buy some losi springs.
-change the wt in your shocks.
-buy aluminium shock caps.(to be sure if you land wrong)

These are the best basic upgrades.

Still not enough? buy some swaybars.

If you got enough money to throw away or you are racing, buy expensive shocks!

WEll i already bought sway bars. I already have changed oil in my shocks. i want to buy 50 dollar shocks so when i do run it offroad i wont bend shafts . .Plus ill have backups when things do go wrong. when i do run it offroad i dont run it lightly i like to bash this guy to **** and back! Yes i know i can rebuild my shocks with upgraded shafts and new caps so they wont pop off but i like the idea of being able to adjust height without using spacers. not to mention the curb appeal of nice new shocks. so back to the question. Will those sc10 bolt right up?

The sc10 look like the are bigger than the stock ones.

Someone made custom plates to fit them.

I don't take credit for these pictures.

+3 on Losi Ten T shocks..They are a direct fit with the Losi Shock Rebuild kit(2)

Traxxas GTR shocks are a direct fit with no mods required..I think the sc10 4x4 shocks require adjustable shock towers to work correctly

I'll vouch for the GTR shocks. I've been running them for a month now, and they're fantastic. Pro-lines are great too, but I think I'd spend the extra 10 for the GTR's. Either way, you'll have some great shocks.

I run sc10 4x4 factory team shocks, I love them. They can run without the custom shock tower mounts, and you can get a LOT of suspensions travel out of them.
if you want me to i can break your truck for free!

Looks like someone ordered rears for the front too!
    no modification necessary!

Im running the SC10 shocks and the rears are identical in length and the fronts are 5mm longer. 1 position in on the top and one out on the bottom and you are set same as stock, i dont run mine that way though. Im outside hole on the towers and 1 out from center on the A arms on TRCE protrac spec arms.

    Mine are the blue flavor
    seen here on TRCE chassis
Blue springs on the front, yellow on the rear
