I have a slash 4x4 and I bought a used buggy this weekend at the track but it came with no radio or receiver. I don't want to rush to buy a fancy radio system. So can I buy another receiver like the one in my slash and use my radio for now?

You should not have to... the remote can store up to 20 receivers in it at once.
You might have to reverse steering too...
Hold MENU for 3 seconds
Green Blinks
Press MENU
2 Green Blinks
Press SET
Green Blinks
Press SET
Red Blinks
Press SET
8 Green Blinks
Hold MENU
Setup CompleteWhatever it is I just said... I could be wrong.

Be sure to notice that there are two channel 1's on Traxxas receivers.
Don't want you to freak yourself out if you put the ESC and servo on the same channel.
