Got my GoPro mount done...

Decided I would go ahead and get this little project knocked out since my center shafts haven't come in yet.
I had a small chunk of aluminum plate lying around here so i trimmed it up and bolted it to the drivers side floor pan through the battery compartment.
I'll be sticking to a single Lipo pack...so that compartment won't be used anyway...and the Lipo pack on the passenger side should be just about a perfect counterweight for the camera which doesn't weigh much.
I didn't want to mount it on top for fear of it being (1) too top heavy,and (2) having a bunch of vibration being mounted to the thin plastic body of the truck.
I thought about mounting it on the back right above the roof...but this thing wheelies too easy already and doesn't need any more help from more weight on the back.lol.
Third choice would have been on the front...but I wanted some portion of the truck to be visible in any video i shoot.
Therefore I decided the side was the best location for what I wanted.
If it ends up being too heavy on the drivers side,I already have a solution planned.
When I cut out the bracket,I also cut out a mirror image one for the other side...and can get some flat carriage bolts to mount it and still leave room in the compartment for the battery pack.
I can add counterweights to this bracket to balance the truck.

Great idea, can't wait to see some action vids, that's the one thing I don't like about mine is you can't see any of the truck with it on the roof, I didn't take much time on mine though, just found a extra adhesive mount laying around and stuck it on the roof, lol.

I've got a video camera mounted on my Rhino(where a rear view mirror would be)...and that's one of the things I don't really care for is that you can't see any of the Rhino in the videos.(It's a Pentax digital camera that's waterproof.It takes better video than the GoPro...but is about twice the size.It would never work on the Summit.)

use rain x on the lens it will help the crud come off easier even when dry
(that's the ONLY good use for that crap BTW)

Well...I went out to try it this evening...and forgot one GoPro issue that I already knew about(haven't used this thing in a long time).
GoPro cameras take horrible low light video.
Even with the LED's on the hood...you still can't see much at all.
Maybe with lights in the bumper and the light bar on the hood it may be ok...but I'm willing to bet this will be a daytime only toy.

thats pretty cool mount man, can we get some pics of how you mounted that camera like that? and the only thing i noticed that stinks is when your going in the water and mud its going to go right onto the camera its still really cool mount.

There are a couple of videos posted right above in posts #'s 9,10 and 16.
The only time it's an issue is when going through mud...the lens gets covered almost immediately.
For non mud riding it does just fine.
I'll probably place another mount on top of the body away from the tires for when I want to go mudding.

As for pics of the mount I have it pulled off right now.
I had a mishap at speed.
I hit a branch in the yard and it jerked left really quick.
Before I could recover and regain control...it caught the concrete surround of our fire pit and sheared the tabs off of the camera housing and bent the mount pretty good.
I'll straighten it out and once I get a new housing I'll take some good pics.
