I run mostly on dirt & gravel.
Every time I drive my pede, I am getting loads of dirt and grit all over the rear diff pinion bearing. I'm getting tired of pulling the rear end off to clean in there after every few packs. I've already had sand get into the bearing. I had to pop off the seals, and clean it with wd40. I have replacement bearings ordered, because I know its going to fail eventually.
I've seen the electric tape & shrink wrap mod, and seen where people put a piece of foam around the drive shaft at the opening, or at the rear by the motor. Also I have seen people make plastic shields that go over the opening and servo area, but I haven't been able to find this guard anywhere, just seen homemade ones.
So.. which way is the best?? Can the weight of the tape on the shaft cause any ill effects??
How the foam is held in place around the front opening.
I've searched the forums and just found as couple pics.
Making the shield sounds good if it works well, I would like to fix this where its at least semi permanent, and dosent cause any strain or wear to the drivetrain.
Any one who fixed this problem please post pics....details & how its working.
Sorry if there's a thread like this already. I couldn't find it
Its been in the mid 90s here all week, So I havent been running the truck much, but i have the esc fan, the "mega" fan for the motor, rear mips, mashers, shock caps, the 50s chevy body, and a temp gun on order. So I really need to get this sorted as I am planning on doing a lot of bashing in the next few weeks.
