Old Gt8 conversion project gets major upgrades.

Well I have decided to bring new life to my GT8 converted slash 4x4. I got bored of the Castle 2400kv setup and decided to step it up.

    Past mods consist of:
SSC Lcg chassis conversion - Running strong for over a year!
Tekno CV's with protrac dogbones and 17mm adapters.
    Tekno center driveshaft.
Lunsford titanium turnbuckles and hinge pins.
    Hitec 985mg servo
    Proline protrac control arms.
Spektrum Dx3s and sr3000 radio setup.
    Protoform GT8 body
Sweep Racing 50shore EXP wheel and tire combo
    Traxxas GTR shocks from Revo
    Castle MMP
    Castle 2400kv 550 motor
    Trakpower 4s 60c 5600mah

    New mods:
Tekin Rx8 Robbed from my Scte
    Castle 2200kv motor from ERevo
    Traxxas Rally front bumper
Revo spec heavy duty slipper assembly
    Trakpower 6s 60c 3400mah
    Revo 36 tooth mod1 spur
    Spektrum SR3300T RX with Telemetry
    Traxxas XO1 29T and 34T pinions.

    Pic of old setup.

    New setup

First thing I have to do is dremel out the motor mount so the new 1/8 motor can sit flat. Also I need to get a bigger foam bumper to bolt in. The stock rally foam doesn't even come close to the front of the Gt8 body. Also need to drill new holes in front of body so it can rest on new adjustable rally mounts. Tell me what you guys think and if any suggestions.
    Traxxas gone bye bye!

I have been running the stock slipper clutch. Upgrading to the heavy duty revo slipper clutch for the new setup. Also looking to purchase some GRP and PMT rally wheels.

I must be crazy. Just ordered a Castle XL2 esc and cap pack for my slash 4x4. lol This is going to be a tight fit! Might pick up a 7s or 8s battery in the future. Found out that neither the 29t pinion or 34t pinion will fit. Either have to modify this mount or make a whole new motor mount. Goal is to get this thing over 100mph. I see so many failed attempts with slash 4x4's. Mine has a major advantage though. It has a lcg chassis which puts all the added weight down low and also it has wider stance with the protrac arms.

Yeah I am going to use the 1/5 scale esc. Couple reasons behind this. It comes with data logging, 5amp bec, higher continuous amp rating, and 8s capability. I am running a revo 36t mod 1 spur gear. Yeah I like the rally chassis although I am not sure if it is low as the SSC chassis. I might get the rally chassis for my other slash 4x4 when Traxxas starts stocking them.

I saw them on ebay the other day, but they wanted like $50 or something like that. Not a big priority right now. I have this project here and I need to do some repairs to my rc8 and scte and also need to look into possibly selling my T4.1ft.

Well I received my Xl2 a couple weeks ago and this project was set aside for a Losi 8Te project. Finished that and now I am back on this. I have changed my plans slightly. This will not be using a slash 4x4 wheelbase anymore. I did not like my options on trying to mount the xl2 on the SSC chassis. I have a x01 chassis and other parts on the way. The xo1 chassis will be trimmed down to a 360mm wheelbase. I will be transferring the SSC chassis to my other slash 4x4 with the 2400 system.

sounds like a good plan to me race you to the finished LOL J/K. i still need few more parts as well before i start the build. i have two chassis so i'm going to use the other chassis as a template to get the right measurement.

what 360mm body design are you going to buy?

I thinks he is using Supra Sales from ebay. The body is a Protoform GT8 body. It is a line made from Proline. You can get them just about anywhere.

Doing the same as you. I have two chassis on the way. Going to use the the Kyosho GT v2 bodies. I am a big GM fan. My username even shows it. lol So I am going with the Corvette body painted gloss black. For some reason a blacked out Corvette seems awesome.

the scapel are not earodynamically design than the GT8 but if you compare that to a SCT body then yes it is. i believe they have a race only for scapel body

a gloss black Corvette is such a sleeper, thats gonna come out very neat. me on the other hand....i'm going to paint it lightish blue with black strippe at the driver front fender.

I got bored the other day so I decided to compare the size differences between my Xl2 and 2200kv to my other motors and esc's. Here are a couple pics.

From left to right. Traxxas Vxl, Duratrax element(Castle Sidewinder), Castle MMP, Tekin Rx8, and Castle XL2.

    Traxxas/Castle 2200kv, Tekin T8 2000kv, Tekin T8 2050kv, Castle 2400kv, Losi/Castle 2800kv, Tenshock Sc 411 4600kv, Traxxas Velineon 3500kv, and Duratrax/Castle 3900kv.
