Which one? Mamba monster 2 2200 or 2650

Hi guys I'm having a little trouble deciding which combo to get. Either the mamba monster 2 2200 of 2650. I'll be running 3s and i'm not looking for as much speed as torque. Thanks for all your help

No matter what packs are being used if I have to choose between the two I would choose the 2650. You cant run it above 4s but there is no need to. Either motor produces more torque than the slash 4x4 will ever need.

2650 would seem to be the overall better choice. Both motors are overkill for the truck. The 2650 is just more manageable overkill.

I was going to post the same question. I considering one of these two and thing I'm going to go with the 2650 now.

I went through the same thing. After talking to Castle, I decided on the 2650 because I plan on 3s for most of the time. I'm using the 18t pinion (Seems conservative) that came with it and I'm having trouble keeping it straight when I nail the throttle. ALOT of fun but I need to retrain my throttle control.

I have both motors and I prefer the 2650 especially of your only going to use 3s. You can run a 6s with that motor but its not recommended but if you want to see what it will do for like a speed run it shouldn't hurt the motor.

Thanks guys, well now that I know I'll be getting the 2650, I guess my next question would be gearing 19/54?

on my 2650 i run 20/54 and there still a ton of torque so you could even run a smaller spur for more speed. i believe you might be about to get a 22t pinion but that would be the max cause a bigger one will not fit

Hi guys would this combo fit the slash? (Castle Mamba Monster Neu V3 1/8 ESC + 2200KV Motor) I'm a newbie have no clue with the motor esc selection. This setup might be coming my way! + what battery 3s? 4s? Thanks

yes it will fit, the 2200 likes 4s better. the only thing you will need is a 5mm pinion

Yes that will work but you will have to get a 20t 5mm pinion make sure it's a 32 pitch

With a 2200 motor, I'd suggest checking out mod-1 spurs and hardened steel pinions. Traxxas uses those on the xo-1, which has a similar size motor to the 2200.
