    Upgraded Rustler XL-5

    Hello everyone,

Just a few quick questions about my Rustler. I have been upgrading it in the past few weeks and heres what I have done so far:

    -Castle Creations Sidewinder 3 ESC
    -Neu-Castle 1410 Series 3800KV Motor
    -Tenergy 3S 11.1V 25C LiPo Battery
    -Replaced bushings with bearings
    -STRC Aluminum Castor Blocks
    -RPM Camber Links
    -STRC Aluminum Bulkhead
    -RPM Wide Front Bumper
-ProLine Racing 2.8" Trencher Offroad Tires

I am looking to be driving this mostly offroad on dirt and short grass with a 16/86 setup, but I also have a 19t and 28t pinion gears.

    1. What speed can I be expecting on short grass?
    2. What speed can I be expecting on-road?
    3. What other upgrades are suggested/needed?

    Thanks!

I tried it with the 19t pinion today after installing everything and WOW the tires almost came off of the wheels they were ballooning so much and I was only going half throttle

    Nonono...
Buy streetfighters or g-locs for reduced ballooning on road
Or else the trenchers will wear down

I had street fighters on mine for less than ten minutes, did a high speed 360 and both rear tires flat spotted badly. I just got done taping and balancing them, that was a fast waste of money for me.
The anacondas do work but wear out fast and baoon quite a bit. I have had the most luck with the G-locs, I ran them for a while before needing replacing. I put some factory Jato tires on the rear for dirt with the G-locs still up front and that works great.

Here's a speed calculator for different gearing options:

You may need to research a little on what to enter for the rustler. I'm a slash/ bandit owner so sorry I don't know the settings for the rustler.
