My son and I were in the middle of a good run racing side by side. Then suddenly I noticed my car did not respond when trying to bring it back to the starting line. I looked down and NO GREEN light on my transmitter. I thought nothing of it at first, just thinking it was the batteries or the battery linkage. I took my batteries out and checked them with my sons radio transmitter, they worked fine. I then took the side cover off to check the battery linkage... No luck there either. So then I took out the original base thinking it could be the TQi Docking Base.... NOT! It still didn't work. GRRRRR!

We got these for Christmas and this was the first time out racing our new Traxxas Funny Cars, and the DTS1 timing system. Thank Goodness we were on our last pass of the day.
    HELP!!!!
The updates to the radio WILL brick it. So if you have the iPod docking base, DONT UPDATE. Get an airtronics MT4. 90% of the people at my race track run it. It will last you forever. My friend had one for 3 years and it still works like new. Don't get spektrum because it glitches

At least I had a spare radio. Being 11 yrs old and having autism I flipped out and bought an airtronics MT4. Never could be happier.

Just checking with everyone. I know I haven't had any trouble lately with my TQI and this thread has gone about 1.5 months without a post... Has Traxxas fixed this issue???

I bought a Slash 4x4 6808 model at BestBuy.ca and i don't know how old this model is but after 2 weekends having fun the TQi transmitter doesn't turn on for no apparent reason. Another "no green light on the Traxxas transmitter" problem. I don't have the docking base so it's not about how you hookup an iPod and render its useless with the update. I have a normal one and it still dies on me. I pay hard-earned money for this product just to have fun with it and now i have to pay another fee for shipping this transmitter back to Traxxas for repair/replacement only after 3 weeks use from Toronto, Canada to USA. This is a big joke. I have a ten year old transmitter and it's still as good as new.

I don't mind replacing broken parts with the car/truck if I break it. But come on Traxxas, transmitter dies for no apparent reasons and don't tell me to check the batteries and the wire harness. You should recall all your new TQi transmitter and replace with something that's reliable in the first place.

Not very happy with the product atm. I don't know how "WELL" Traxxas stands behind its products but making you pay another fee to ship it back to its headquarter in USA doesn't seem "well" at all to me. Some companies have RMA number with UPS/Fedex shipping code if their products are faulty.

In short, summing up a review on your slash 4x4 #6808 or any other models with TQi transmitter is "FUN IF IT CAN RUN"

    Add me to the list!
I have spent a few thousand dollars on traxxas.
So i guess its time to spend another $50 out of my own pocket, to fix a traxxas blunder.

mine is still under warranty so had to spend extra 20 bucks to get it shipped back to US headquarter to have it repaired/replaced... otherwise I wouldn't send it in for repair. If not under warranty cover, I'd rip it apart to show you guys why it fails. Besides with 50 dollars you can get some other transmitter + receiver like FlySKy GT3B or Chinese made
    RadioLink RC3S.
In the meantime I search up and down the schematic of TRaxxas tqi transmitter with model #65xx. The best documentation is from FCC showing the pictures of the circuit board. There's a COM port shown the pictures which is good sign.

I pulled mine apart and tested it with a multi meter. And everything is getting power. No signs of damage or burned out boards.
Maybe the LED light has blown, and maybe the LED is what supplies some sort of earth to the rest of the controller. And because the LED has failed. The controller, no longer has a connected circuit. But Idk. I'm only guessing.
