    Titan motors

Hey guys, I have no idea where to post this since there isn't a section in the electronics forum.

I have two Titan 550 motors and I am trying to tell if they are 21t or 12t motors. I believe there is one of each, but I can't tell.

Did Traxxas ever use 12t that didn't say 12t on the label?

Thanks for any and all help.

I dont think they did. Im pretty sure all 12 turn titan said 12T on them. But i could definitely be wrong. The 21t titans just said titan on them.

The only difference I see is that one says 14V above the Titan label. I just noticed that. None of my 12t motors say that or my reverse rotation motors.

Those look like the old school 23T motor that came on the 3906 before the change over to 21T.

I am pretty sure the first one (without 14V) on the sticker is 23T. Not so certain about the second one.

Hmm. The one that days 14v is the only one that says that. My 12t motors don't say that and my reverse rotation motor doesn't say anything about it.

The 4 cooling holes in the endbell were indicative of the 23t motors if memory serves, only two cooling holes was the 21t newer style motor.

I just checked and all of my motors have 4 cooling holes each.

They are most likely the older style 23t motors you may want to confirm that with a search through the emaxx forums if you really want to be dead sure. If they are the 23t they were supposed to be very good motors.

I have been searching all over. I can't find anything for sure and I never received a response from Traxxas which is weird.

Well I talked to Traxxas today. Seems these are all 21t Titan motor. The only difference is a mid year change to the production run which is why one says 14v and the others don't.
