Thumbs up My remote start Revo !

Hi all, I wanted to share with you a project I just finished. I decided to install the Losi ROSS unit on my Revo 3.3 It was pretty easy, the existing EZ start wires match up exactly with the Ross system. It consists of the following:

    -Losi Ross unit
-4th channel mod on stock 3-channel tq radio
-momentary switch to activate the remote start
-small 2-cell lipo to power it. 1300mah. (The stock Revo battery would not be powerful enough)
    about $35 total.

    Small very light weight lipo:

The Ross unit fits nicely next to the stock receiver. Also very light weight.

I just finished testing it and it works perfect! I did about 8 starts with it and the lipo still had about 4.13v per cell. It does add some minimal weight to the truck but I only bash it so its ok. I like that I get to keep the reverse. The remote start is so convenient, the engine stalled on me about 40 feet away but it only took the push of a button to start it back up. Sweet!

You should make a video for all of us to see! Haha! That system looks sweet! Nice job putting it together, rather clean looking setup apart from all the wires in the receiver box!

you could actually get a larger capacity battery and use it to power both receiver and ROSS.. just get a regulator to the receiver... save some weight

    nice system
you know.. i never had a sig.. but i do now...

If I have the TQI system can I just get rid of my RPM sensor and use that slot for the ROSS module? Or since I took reverse out could I use that spot on the receiver?

Nice, that's really cool. I would do this mod on my Slayer, but then I'd need a new remote grrrr.

Yes if you took reverse out you could use the 3rd channel to operate the remote start. I've been using it for a few months now with no problems. Works every time!

Would this battery be a direct connect to the losi ross system and work the same as the original?

    Thanks,

That lipo should work fine. Don't know about the connector though. I cut the connectors off and put on Traxxas ones.

    Thanks

    Update:
So this system was working fine until it started blowing glow plugs non stop . Turns out the voltage regulator in the ROSS unit must have went bad and was sending the entire lipo voltage to the glow plug causing them to blow. I bought a separate 1.5v regulator($9) and its working fine now. So basically the ROSS unit now is just being used as a "receiver controlled switch" sending power from the lipo to the motor and 1.5v regulator.

The ROSS module has been implemented for quite a while now. I put one on a highly modded rustler a while back. For the rusty is added to much weight with the cheesy start motor and battery. But it worked great. Planning on doing the same with the parts to my revo. Check out the vid.

I know this is an old thread, but I'm wanting to do the same mod, but I have the TQi transmitter with iPhone dock. How different is the setup on it vs the older transmitters, and can I even mod it to add a momentary switch? Thanks!

this is an older thread but I would just suggest upgrading to the blutooth 4 channel tqi transmitter. Its only $30 and you can use any receiver.

How/where do you get the transmitter for $30? They're 50 or better on eBay.

OK. I saw how everyone was modding 2 ch to a 3. Figured it could be done from a 3 to 4.

I would just install the FOC and use the 3rd channel for the remote start.
