Hub Wheel Extenders (widen track width) Will I need new LONGER CV-Shafts?

Hello,
I'm about to buy these for my Summit. Will I need LONGER CV-shafts for the the tires to mount
to these? or no mods' accessory needed?

THe offsets is 15mm +

I know these will put a little extra strain on the suspensions, but I don't
do crazy jumps like everyone else does

You will not need longer shafts.

The silver tube slides inside of the larger bit, bolting the larger bit to the existing axle shaft. Then the tire gets bolted to the larger bit.

Those won't work with the Summit! Those are designed for the older hex size, and I think they may work on the E-Revo.

I bought them, and had to custom drill holes to make them work:

As you see in this picture, the stock Summit's hubs have a grub screw holding them in place:

If you drill a hole at the exact right height, and exactly straight through, they WILL work though:

What Wheel Extenders will fit our SUMMIT without mods'>

I like the Width to be as wide as possibly can !

I can only say to look for extenders that look like the original hex (blue one in my pics)

You don't want TOO wide, it affects quite a bit of the performance, and you want the car to be longer than it is wider - much wider than 12mm as I have, will make the car a square which is much harder to control and it really works the differentials more... annd turning radius is affected etc..

Sorry I can't point you anywhere though, I thought the ones I got WERE right until I received them.

I could be wrong but the grub screw is not required. The extended hex should come with a small pin. That pin ( along with that locking hex nut at the tip of the axle) should be enough to hold the hex in place.


Just stick the pin though the axle hole first, then slide the hub on top and place the lock nut.

The new traxxas screw type locking pin which comes on the new summit IS more secure, but the axle will still accept the age old pin and nylon locking nut method.

Yeah I suppose the pin would work - you just need to buy them separately, they didn't come with my extenders. If you DON'T use a pin, the wheels will just unscrew themselves right off:

I have the 12mm offset hubs and the pins ALWAYS break. I didn't like the pins to begin with as they are too small and leave slop. I'm sure most of us have old axles kicking about or even drivshafts. I ground the length of the oem axle pins to fit in the offset hubs and haven't broke one in over a year.
