DeWalt 14.4 Gearing...

I though I'd make this thread because after two hours of searching I didn't find a true good answer. What would be a good pinion to run on the DeWalt with the stock 68t spur gear? I'm leaning towards a 18t pinion, but I'm not 100% sure. I'll be running 80-90% in grass that sometimes can get rather tall. I'm really afraid the 18t pinion is too high gearing and it will kill run time, or ruin my esc/DeWalt. So, what gearing is everyone using with their DeWalts? I just want to get a feel for what I should use. Thanks!

I would start 16/68 and watch temps

I ran 18/68 last years with no problem, that was with Proline Trenchers.

I guess when I get to do the swap ill just stick with the stock size since I went down 2 teeth with the mudslingers

Oh, I'm running Trencher X's, would that lower my gear ratio because of the smaller tire size?

Ok, Is the 16t a 5mm bore? So, I'm running on thick grass, up, down, and around this hill. So, which gearing would be the best, besides the stock 14t? I want just a little more speed. Thanks.

that line of pinions wont work... check out the .8 mod line from RRP :

Its the small bore of the previous pinion that makes it incomparable.

I have the 14.4 Dewalt. My son bashes on the track and dirt/gravel with a 19 tooth pinion. Grass, like a park or football field we drop to an 18 tooth. The 19 tooth ran a little warmer than I liked. He bashes with original Trenchers. Your Trencher X tires are a little shorter so the 19 will probably be fine.

JMHO, but just like others have stated here and elsewhere, keep your eye on temps.
