    High rev instead of idle.

This is on 2.5 and i rebuilt the carb (orings)the other day.

But when the carb slide is in idle position and i go to start it, the engine screams like its at WOT. Then it dies. Does that every time i start it. thoughts?

Motor is not over enough to grab spur... bell clutch pads need to be replaced or clutch bell is stripped. My money is on the clutch pads.....

not clutch pads. i replaced those last year and i havent really drove it since then. Clutch bell and spur are meshed fine, they spin together.

Did you make sure you replaced everything right and the slide isn't actually stuck open? Your idle gap could also be too big.

the slide is not WOT. its over against the 'slide stop' where idle position is.

What is your idle gap? Should be 0.7-1.0mm open. If it is and the engine still screams, it is getting air from some other place.

Did you replace the o-rings because this problem was happening? I'll bet you have a broken carb or it's not fully seated into the engine.
