how do you tell what the horse power and torque curve of a brushless electric motor is?what does the kv rating stand for?

i believe the HP and torque curves of a BL motor are would be exponential. id have to go look it up to be sure though. KV is rating of rpm per volt. 1000KV at 6v is 6000RPM.

a lot of motors will have a power rating in watts listed in the specs,1 hp = 745.69 watts as a conversion factor. I think technically the best way to measure power from a motor is to actually measure how many amps were drawn from the motor, it's easy to look at theoretical specs and assume your 9000kv motor will make 5 HP and should take you 100+ MPH, when in reality it will simply overheat.
