Hello guys,
Me and my son both have a Summit, and i was wondering if anybody could help me out?
My boy is running his with the Swamp kong wheels on it,and keeps burning the motor,
what would be a good gear set up to run these wheels?
Thanks
Dean

i am a noob but have you tried 23 and 55
If I am Wrong the internet Told me.....
I would gear down the pinion a couple teeth. I'm only running the mud slingers with 12 and 68 on pinion and spur and love it.

I burnt out my Titan using 14/62 with Proline Trencher X's, which are smaller diameter than the Canyons so should have helped the gearing too.
Based my gearing on the following:
14/68 = 4.857
17/68 = 4.0
14/62 = 4.428
So I thought the 62T spur would be OK but alas, magic smoke from the motor.
Anyway, waterproof Mamba Monster 2 and 2200kV motor on backorder should fix that![]()

Summit BL HW SC8 2000kV
E-Revo MM2 2200kV
The lower the number (over all gear ratio) the harder It is on the motor. The lower the number (over all gear ratio) the faster It will go.
The lower the pinion gear tooth count the more torque and easier it is on the motor.
The higher the pinion gear tooth count the faster it will go but work the motor harder
The lower the spur gear tooth count the more speed and harder on the motor.
The higher the spur gear tooth count the slower and more torque you will get.

I currently have 8T pinion and 65T Robinson Racing slipper with stock Canyons and like the gearing. Great for crawling and climbing and no problem with motor heat. It doesn't go very fast but that's not what I wanted a Summit for. High gear is still much faster than you can keep up with on foot and Low will just creep slowly up very steep terrain. You would get more speed the the Swamp Kongs as, I believe, they are much taller.
Hot Racing makes down to an 8 tooth pinion that you could match up tithe 68 tooth spur.
Might have to switch to the hardier dewalt motor.

Thanks alot guys!
Will give it a try this weekend!
Would changing to brushless solve anything or doesn't that really matter?
Thanks
It was Jimmie opps Rong Forum
Changing to brushless will not change anything.
Whatever it is I just said... I could be wrong.
I once read that if you measure(circumference) around the tires and use that number as a starting ratio, you will be in the ballpark. Just fine turn it from there.

"Who wants a Rod that you cant Mod?!"
12/68 works good on 4s these should be the same size
