48p to 32p?

I'm changing my rustler vxl3s to 32 pitch gears. My question is would a 54t spur an a 19-20 pinion be ok for motor, an not make much heat?

id start with 17/54 and see what the temps are, what battery are you running

19/54 should be fine, watch temps, if its cool, gear up a tooth or 2, if its warm, gear down a tooth or 2

Wait, what current gearing are you running? There is a way to match up the ratios...

Example:
If your running 86/23, your gear ratio is 3.74:1
Compareable 32p:
56/15= 3.73:1

You may be overgeared using a 19t pinion!!!!

56/19= 2.94:1
