will this work for my sons 1/16 grave digger?

looking to upgrade my sons radio because he keeps breaking the antenna on his, will this work? I don't know much about R/C's yet and I want to be sure before I order it, will I also need a short antenna for the receiver?

Here is the one I found on ebay, thanks for your help.

Traxxas TQi Link 2.4Ghz 2 Channel High Output Radio (# 6509)
    Traxxas TQi Link 2.4Ghz 5 Channel Receiver (# 6518)

Yes, those will work... no more parts needed other than that!
You can shorten the antenna tube you currently have for the new receiver.

    This will also work:
    http://www.ebay.com/itm/TRAXXAS-TQ-2...item3ccd8025a4

And I have found $35-45 sets in the Market Place in the past.

Whatever it is I just said... I could be wrong.

Not necessarily. If it was pulled from a complete model like most eBay chop shops it may not come with a tube.

OK I'm trying to put this new TQi in, I hooked it up and I got steering but no throttle, and the light on the ecs is flashing green rather than solid red like it was with the old radio, any help?

Did you recalibrate the ESC to the new radio?

Since its a TQi did you configure the transmitter for the model you will be using it with. If it came from an Ebay chop shop the transmitter may have been factory configured for most any vehicle and that may be the problem. Is the throttle trim set to zero? Also check to make sure you have the ESC plugged into the correct receiver channel the 6509 receiver has a couple of channel 1 slots, the ESC plugs into channel 2.
I am not young enough to know everything!
