Do.you have a temp gun?
On my revo I was running 18/54 and trenchers & never had a problem. But what do you call hot?

Merry Christmas and 50 Togo i see you on every forum i go to Awsome and probably wanna get a heatsink and umm and make sure everything is well lubed so it runs smoothsmile face
hey 50togo I call hot holding hand on for 5 seconds and no longer i have to remove my hand
Hows this Temp Gun look?? http://rchobbies.com.au/store/produc...ducts_id=40368
Yep. I have 2 Merv and a maxx and a revo and 2 t maxxes!
One or two seconds is too hot.
That is expensive. Harbor freight has sales for 20.00 but that might be better quality!
I.just put.a castle blower on mine doesn't blow that hard but I am sure it helps

how do they actually work just place the gun infront of the Motor or on it?
Non contact just a few inches away will work fine
Ok cheers ill grab a heat gun a see what temps its running
I never go riding without it!
I used to use my hand and you know what its cooler than you think. Mine was atleast 20-30* cooler sons temp gun nor gauge helped. I use it to get Tue right gearing and check it on all the terrains I will run it on with the same gearing first then adjust if need be then after a few temp checks after to be safer I don't use it till I change gearing again or add different parts. Has worked good so far.

Thanks heaps guys
its a temp gauge so you dont have to keep checking temps with a temp gauge in your pocket.

just how well has those temp strips worked for you 50
I have been using these on my EMBE for about 6 months now and have had no issues and the strip has helped me a lot in determining the optimal gearing to use.
Always get a 2nd Opinion!
Works great. Haven't compared it with my temp gun but seems accurate
Good price and comes 3 in a pack!
hey 50togo did you simply order your racetemp gauge from racetemp.com or did you have to have it custom made?
in other words, when you went to racetemp.com did you go to the "buy now" tab and simply click the "buy this" or did you have to do something else to get that cool temp gauge you have on your motor?
Just click on buy this. They come in 3 packs.
thanks, also could anyone tell me what the ideal temp should be of the motor or what you think it shouldn't exceed? thanks !![]()
Should not exceed 160 is OK as temps inside are higher so keep under that if possible. Temps higher than 160 usually will be when you are geared too high.

thanks , I'll order those awesome temp gauge strips from the website and if i get near 160 then time to stop, or gear lower. thanks for the info. May I just ask, when you say gear lower........do you mean a smaller pinion gear? Do you have any suggestions are far as what gearing works best for you, along with what gears you used from what makers?
Make sure to order the lower temp gauge
I use 21/65 but I have a hobbywing combo setup running 4s everything else stock. Try stock gearing first on 4s then if temps are OK and low like 115-125 you can gear up to like 20/68 then check again and keep going from there OK. I've been fine with stock spurs plastic and traxxas pinions but I also have a hobbywing pinion too that is doing good but RRP pinions are good.

Just checked out the strips. Look neat.
That's a little much for that temp gun. Harbor freight has specials all the time for around 30
I'm sorry, but 50togo can you explain to me how to make sure I get the "lower temp gauge strip" when i go to the website and click buy this it doesn't give me an option to select "lower temp gauge" so should i call up and place the order? thanks...they come in pack so three and i just want to make sure i order the right ones......
Yep. That's the way! No use getting the higher one!
