Is there a difference in the transmissions. I have the 2.5 that I finally got running today and the trans does not down shift, stays in second gear even after coming to a complete stop. I want to tear it down and see what wrong but don't know how the 2.5 trans is built.

The 3.3 and 2.5 are the same, except the engine.
The clutch in the tranny is probably acting up.

Fixed it. it was the clutch in the trans that was stuck so I just replaced it. shifts just fine now.

What was wrong with the clutch? Broken spring? Clogged with dirt?

It was the spring. while I had it since 2010 and I bought it used. so it was time.
