IR reading for you revo batteries

How many keep an eye on their batteries IR readings for their revo's?

I do it when I use someones fancy charger that has that function. I think that making sure that they are balanced is enough for me.

Nope. Good idea but I never have. If one pack was getting hotter than the other or run time was affected by a faulty cell then for diagnostic purposes it's a good call, I wouldn't for general maintenance though.

Its more of a tool for when your pack needs replacing
When the resistance gets over 10/12 ohms when.it was 2 brand new and it will not perform
Also shows when a pack has a weak cell

And the ir readings from a charger is not as accurate as an esr meter and for accurate reading need to be at 72°
In the above reading (which wasn't at 72° ) my icharger read 2 ohms

Does IR mean internal resistance? And no I don't do anything with my lipo's between runs.

I guess I need to read up on the device so I'll know more. I've never heard of it, but it makes sense.

Ir readings need 72° for an hour. I have the house temp set then I will check all.of them. Never did that before

ive read that resistance readings are best if as low as possible. It makes perfect sense too if you look at what high resistance does to voltage.

My batteries usually are under 0-4 milliOhms total when new. Every time that my batteries start to lose their punch, I have notice the resistance has risen dramatically. At that point they are up to 15-25 milliOhms total.

When it gets to this point a few other things are obvious. The capacity dramatically drops off when recharging, the battery cannot hold its voltage under load, and the battery swells when used.

I entered my average IR reading of 2.4 from my 5400 50c batteries into this program that shows the true C rating of a battery
These work out only to a true 22C

I will do mine when my 106b+ gets here. I have never had that feature on a charger before.

The icharger is not quite as accurate as the esr meter doesn't place as much load when measuring voltage drop but would still be good for keeping track of your batteries health.
Always test at 72° and as they age you will see the IR raise as they get weaker

I look at the I.R. but not religiously. If i am walking by the laptop and just checking on the pack i'll have a look.

Using ccs software on the pl8. I would expect it to be reasonably accurate as one of the recent firmware updates takes into account the resistance of the mpa board. But i have nothing else to compare it too.
