Electric conversion question

Hey guys
My friend has a nitro revo 2.5r short wheel base version and he wants to put an 1/8 scale system in it...he currently has bought the erevo transmission but it's placement doesn't let the motor clear the shocks...is there anything that he can do with the current stuff to make it work correctly? Can he buy just a long wheelbase chassis or does he have to make his nitro revo a complete erevo (chassis ect)?

If he already spent the money on the transmission, he may as well get the summit or e-revo plastic chassis and center drive shaft and receiver box, Costs around $35 on eBay.
