Most guys get the 14.4v DeWalt, but they usually put it Summits. The DeWalt upgrade is normally used to achieve more torque, not speed. But then again, I havent upgraded to a DeWalt. Hopefully other people will give their input.
i am not wanting speed just a cheap single motor set up that will give me decent run times and speeds of 15 to 20mph
yea it runs off the evx2,instead of a red/black wire going to one motor you put the two reds and two blacks to the dewalt.
There is lots of threads on here either maxx/summit/erevo with lots of pics and info.

Same motor plate and same motor mount. Just bolt it up.

Get the heavy duty batteries. Weaker ones will burn... I also had to get new a new spur and pionions so I got the motors further in to the car so the motor didnīt touched the body. I also had to cut in the motormount. The seller at kershaw told me he never had seen that before, but my car was as stock as it could be...

Itīs freakin awesome!
so 12v or 14v?
depends on what you want. Speed, 12V but the brushes need changing more often as you will be putting 16.8V into a 12V motor. Or just beef, 14.4V,
There isn't just one model of each motor, Last time i checked there was 6, new style 14.4V motors. Each one with a different power rating.
most shops just sell the same part number motor. I think it's 396505-21.
Dewalt service centre's won't give out much info on what part number motor to use, I think they have their own secret inner circle.

The most popular choice is a Dewalt 14.4V motor, part number 396505-21SV.
I know they're having their break there by your brake drums. No, you're not invited.
