Go for the standard hr shocks. Vxs15501 and vxs15501 .they have blue, red, silver, black .run traxxas tin shafts and blue or purple summit springs
Rpm arms are the way to go. Theirs carriers work good when new but some have problems. I have gh aluminum and bearings for the carrier and steering post is a good idea

The only trick you need with the hr shocks is to use stock traxxas seals and one hr seal on top

So one traxxas seal - spacer - traxxas seal - hr seal
Get the tin coated shafts ,blue summit springs and some 80wt oil and hr vxs15501 and 15601

    15601 for black-and-white 15602 for red -15606 for blue

do you run the stock traxxas top cap on the HR bodies? Tension ring as well?

I feel the need to upgrade my shocks on my MERV after going BB. i have a bunch of sag on the rear as it is, so an upgrade would be nice.

Ordered a set of HR bodies and a pack of TiN shafts. couple those with the parts from the existing shocks and i should be good to go then?

I think I should clear up the reason l linked to those posts...
I did it so that you would not be told the same information all over again... not to be mean in any way. I realized tonight that it could have been taken with a mean tone after I read over the post again.
Whatever it is I just said... I could be wrong.

that's the parts i ordered but they only shows the bodies with the threaded bottom cap. What do i use up top? Or do they come with a top cap that just isn't in the picture?

you meant vxs15601, got it, ordered those now as well

thanks jimmie, i figured you didnt mean it that way. i was just seeing parts in the rebuild kits that i didnt recognize from installing and building my current set-up so i wanted to be sure that i wasnt forgetting anything, waiting for parts sucks..lol.. and thanks 50!

So I haven't ordered my springs yet, where do you get the traxxas ones that are stiffer, I think I've heared about a black or tan and double Black and Tan. What are the part numbers and what sites do you order these from? I figure that with even the best shocks and heavy oil you're still getting crappy suspension response with weak springs.

Ok so my HR parts are here, assembly is going just fine, but I'm curious what you guys have done with the caps considering the hollow ball they include doesn't snap into place like normal? In that pack there are 4 small rubber washers, i would like to think those get used as well? Cant quite figure this one out.

will the hr shocks leak without the extra seal? i didn't get the hr seals. should i put an old seal from traxxas in and see if that works?

i built mine with a traxxas rebuild kit. the 2 part pack i bought from HR didn't have a seal. Figured i was supposed to use the traxxas top seal.
