How do I find compatible tires/wheels?

Hi All,

Just wondering how I go about finding what tires and wheels are compatible with my Nitro Slayer Pro?

I know the part number is 5976 but im wondering what alternatives are available? Is there a size to look for? Or specific name??

How do i search for my options?

Any short course style tires/rims with a 14mm hex will fit on the Slayer. If you want the BFGoodrich tires with the red ring, the part number is TRA5975A. Actually, any tire with the 14mm hex will fit, even if it's a moster truck tire. It will just be huge. Hope this helps!

Now lets say im an adventurous kind of guy... if i put a Monster truck tire on, would it cause issues? Rub? Be too hard for the single servo to steer???

Oh ya. It would put alot of stress on the engine because it's been geared for smaller tires, it will also be hard on the steering servo too. They might rub on the a-arms, and for sure they will rub on the body. Not really practical, but they can look cool.

you could consider off setting them, an upgrade to the servo is never a bad idea either and the parts are easily available to make it a dual servo system, and if you wanted to be really creative put 17mm or 21mm hex's on the wheels. this gives you all sorts of wheel options. Always want to re gear your engine though, to make sure you are in the proper power band, and check your tires all the way through travel for rubbing

I had to really cut my slayer body when I put it on my revo,


There would be no way to mount large wheels on the slayer and use the body since the arms are shorter so the large wheels will really be close to the chassis.

So to put bigger wheels on I need to get the Revo:
-Swing arms
-Drive shafts
-Second Servo
-Change the gear ratio

Is that the about all i would have to change???

How do I know what a 'strong' servo is?? The stock Traxxas that came with the car is fine ATM, but how do I tell if its 'Strong'?

Compare the specs of the servos. You'll want to compare the in/pds they have. Hi-tec makes some nice servos.

you want to look at the torque rating and speed. the first will the strength output of the servo, while the latter affects response time, by telling you how long it takes to turn 60 degrees. On my slayer I am running a high speed/high torque metal gear, you may want just a high torque for the larger tires, you can get a good one in the 250 oz/in range easily for around $80 online. this would double your current servo approximately.

My friend at the LHS told me that stampede wheels and tires would work.

Link with Stampede wheels on a Slash with minor body modification. Should work on the Slayer also.

with a higher torque servo, a single servo should have no issues with turning your tires. 2 servo's will have a very slight advantage in that it puts less strain on individual servo's.

I am running a single futaba on one of my Revos, it's 124 in/oz.
a single traxxas 2075 is 125 in/oz and is waterproof, so that should work fine.

You can use 12mm hex short course wheels with the addition of Tekno 12mm hexes for 6mm axles. Then you will have a wide selection of short course wheels you can use.
