    Shock upgrade for slash.

    Hi guys,
I want to upgrade my shocks. Do you guys have any suggestions. I want it long ( to make the truck tall for style) but also able to absorb sharp turns that it wont flip. Any ideas? Range is ~$60 running it on street and the park (not grass)

Hmm, sounds like you might be in the market for some 1/8th shocks. Something like 2 pairs of these:

Should use the same hardware as well.

hey check out the new gtr shocks for the set i think is either 40 or 80 bucks
they come in long a xxlong so shouldent have mounting problems

but for going to a high stance the front end is going to limit you the most

Longer shocks will not help with roll overs, in fact will most likely make it worse.

now a protrack kit with the front offset allround would be the best bet for that situation

so i dont know how you would do it with traxxas shocks xxlong (2wd chassis shocks) and xxx-long in the rear(maxx truck shocks)
but the front to rear length ratio would be off abit .but im guessing you can get regular xlong ultras witch would even up the front to rear lenght ratio

Rather re-typing everything see here for some info on shock options that I have collected. That said if you want to avoid the rolling then you need to tune the suspension - simply replacing the shocks is not likely to fix the problem unles they shocks you buy happen to be configured properly anyway.

the quick and dirty quick answer is: Stock shocks with aluminium caps and Ti-ni shafts combined with new oil and springs - a very good starting point is in the JANG slash tuneup tutorial

Oh thanks for the video, and true i really dont need new shocks or shock caps at all because i dont really jump with my slash. I just posted this thread because i thought i needed new ones but i think i just need new springs, well according to the video. So what springs should i use? Can i have a link of your suggestions and maybe the green and blue one on the Video? Thanks.

Start with what jang says - 2" green at the front (losa5132) and 2.5" blue at the back (losa5160).
Stock oil is 30WT I believe so as per JANG leave that in the front and get some 45WT for the rear.

If you want to be a little more adventurous and have the budget what you could do is get this lot:

Losi Rear Shock Spring Tuning Set (8) [LOSB2963]
    2.7 rate Red springs
    3.0 rate Orange springs
    3.3 rate Silver springs
    3.6 rate Green springs
    $16.49

Losi Front Shock Spring Tuning Set (8) [LOSB2959]

    3.6 rate Green springs
    3.9 rate Blue springs
    4.2 rate Black springs
    4.5 rate Purple springs

    $16.49

And pick up a range of oils as well, I would suggest you get what you can afford from 30 to 50 e.g. 30/35/40/45/50 if possible.

That oil range and spring selection should give you plenty to work with.

If it's great ? well it can always be much netter but one thing for sure, it can handle jumps very good unlike it was @ the beginning where the shocks were so lame that with any small jump they used to bottom all the way.
It drives much better now, regarding turns it does it ok but if you take a turn to fast it will simply do a 360 as my slash is still with the stock crapy tires.
Overall for the $$$ it costs, it's very good.

here is a vid, not the best qulity:

Yep. Looks like you got the shocks working pretty good.

Put some fast motion in there. I like the vid and all but all that herky jerky slo mo makes me car sick.

Agreed. Slo mo always looks poor unless you can get the framerate above 60fps. Car looks great though - well done, glad you are sorted.

No rate but it is stiffer than the stock white that came with my VXL 2WD.
You can replace them, it is 1/8 size, shouldn't be a problem.

Sorry, don’t have the original vid anymore, must have delete it.
