    Question Confused noob

    Nothing new I know....

I was hearing about all the issues with rocks/sand getting into the Stampedes gearbox, so I was looking
at getting a RPM Gear Cover.
Problem was when I looked at the gear covers design I could not figure out where it would go on my
    Stampede.
After more research I noticed pics of Stampedes that had the motor and tranny at the far end of the
truck..... no where near where mine is located on my new Pede.

Some of the rear mounts I saw:

From what I can see I can't use this RPM Gear cover (RPM-80522)

So what is up with this, is it an old version of the Traxxas.... I thought that could be the case, but none of the cover descriptions state that is for an older design and they mention it is compatable with the
VXL 4X4's..... I thought the VXLs were the new design.

    Thanks is advance !!!

All those pictures are of the 2wd Stampede....You need to make sure you look for the 4x4 version and parts.

The clear cover does nothing really. It's only advantage was it let you keep a eye on the wear and tear of the spur/pinnion....but over time it tarnishes and is hard to see through.

Nope. Traxxas uses a special computer that calculates all possible combinations of motors, chassis's, and bodies possible and sends them all to the assembly line!
    Sig edited for awesomeness. NC

If you do have the 2WD, all you need to do is clean your cover and put a piece of electrical tape on each side of the slot to close it off and it keeps the sand out - and it's free!

    Thanks everyone... I'm good.

I have the 4X4 so this cover will not work.
