That is not being very helpful

The most common set up is a MMM/2200 set up powered by 6s lipo. Powering the truck is the easy part. The hard part is the set up to keep it going straight and on all four wheels.

Dad's right. You'll need things like:

    - Balanced tires that don't balloon. (Foams are popular)
    - maybe a gyro for added stability
    - some extra weight for stability, especially up front.
    - some form of scoop on the front to keep air from getting under the car.
    - lower the chassis and stiffen the suspension.
    - mod1 gears
    - cvd's: new steel driveshafts for the rear, that have a low rotating mass.

And more. There's lots of threads on this. Just search the forums for 100mph rustler. Have fun, and get ready to spend some money!

    Here's one of many threads on the topic;

The 1717 is very powerful but the KV is too low to work. You would need 8S to develop the RPM required to reach 100mph. I used a 2700kv motor on 6S

Oh yeah, something else you'll need: a lot of road in a straight line. You're gonna run out of room fast at those speeds.

They make all kinds of aluminum parts for the rustler.

You'd need a 2200kv motor at least, if you made everything aluminum.

One question: where will you find aluminum wheels?

A bit of extra weight with aluminium isn't anything to be concerned about. Crashing is a different story though

Make up your mind and be prepared to spend some cash (i.e thousands)
Does more $ = More fun?

To make a rustler go 100mph you will not have thousands of dollars in the car.

You won't need thousands and I have an aluminum rustler all except the shock towers haven't scaled it yet but I'd say its twice the original weight. Its cool to look at and its fun but it worries me to run it because if I hit something with speed is going to hurt if I run for any length of time I put back on my rpm arms to give it some give. Its normally just hangs on my peg board next to my slash 4x4 airbrushed chassis I steal the mmp and 2400 off it all the time to try out in other stuff.

If you had a Rustler that went 100 mph it probably would not cost your thousands of dollars to replicate it I will agree with that. If you are starting from scratch and buy a Rustler with the goal of hitting 100 mph I do think you will likely have thousands into the project by the time you actually reach the 100 mph goal and if not you will be pretty close to it.

It is my belief it takes more than just the parts you see listed in these 100 mph build threads. There is a lot of experimentation and trail and error that cost money. Not to mention fixing crash damage as you learn how to control a high speed Rustler and things like worn out or ripped up tires and bodies etc.

    I can agree with that.
